􀁺Step 2- Lesson

* 주어 + V3 (완전 타동사) + 목적어 (명사구)

(1) require / affect / spend

∙Most jobs require people who have ability to read and write.

∙Speaking English fluently requires much practice.

∙Families and friends greatly affect teenagers.

∙Industry development has a negative effect on earth’s environment.

∙I usually spend my free time watching movies.

∙My school should spend the money improving computer facilities.

(2) 전치사 목적어를 취하는 3형식 동사

V3 provide / supply / present / punish SB with STH

∙Balanced diet provides people with most nutrients for good health.

∙Pets supply children with physical activities and emotional growth.

* 4형식 동사로 착각하기 쉬운 3형식 동사

explain / introduce / announce / propose / suggest / confess

∙The government announced the new policy to people.

* 주어 + V3 (완전 타동사) + 동족 목적어

live a life / lead a life ~한 삶을 영위하다 dream a dream ~한 꿈을 꾸다

∙Young people live more active lives than old people.

∙Healthy people live longer and happy lives.

* 주어 + V3 + 준동사

(1) 부정사를 목적어로 취하는 동사들

: want, expect, learn, decide, agree, tend, fail, afford, offer, hope, promise, plan, prepare, pretend,

manage, try, refuse, intend, strive…

(2) tend to-V / be likely to/ have a tendency of V-ing ~ : ~하는 경향이 있다.

∙Those who spent little time having conversations with their parents tend to keep quiet in classes.

∙They are likely to have difficulty understanding that they learn in classes.

* 주어 + V3 + 명사절

* 주장, 요구, 제안, 명령 동사

: 이 그룹에 속한 동사는 뒤에 that절을 목적어로 취할 수 있으나, that절의 동사는 항상 should와 함께

원형 동사를 써야 한다. Should는 생략되는 경우도 있는데 그 때에도 that절 안의 동사는 주어와 관련

없이 원형을 써야 한다.

* 이러한 부류의 동사들

※ S V that S (should) + V 󲐧���S V O to-V

※ S suggest / propose / recommend that S should V

Ex) The doctor advised that I should quit smoking.

주장 Insist, argue, maintain, claim

요구 ask, require, request, urge, force

제안 Advise / suggest, propose, recommend

명령 order, command

문장 만들기

1. 친구는 청소년들의 행동에 영향을 미친다.

- 영향을 미치다 : affect / influence - 행동들 : behaviors

2. 대학은 스포츠 시설을 개발하는데 충분한 돈을 써야 한다.

- 스포츠 시설 : sports facilities

3. 급우들이 성공적인 학교생활에 영향을 많이 미친다.

- 급우들 : classmates

4. 나는 대부분의 시간을 토플시험을 준비하는데 보낸다.

- 준비하다 : prepare for

5. 대도시는 사람들에게 다양한 문화적 혜택을 제공한다. (provide)

- 문화적 혜택 : cultural benefits

6. 젊은 사람들은 인생을 즐기기 위해 노력한다.

- ~ 하려고 노력하다 : try to

7. 나이든 사람들은 오래된 관습에 집착하는 경향이 있다.

- 집착하다 : stick to - 경향이 있다 : tend to

8. 어떤 사람들은 선생님들이 매일 학생들에게 숙제를 내줘야 한다고 주장한다.

- 숙제 내주다 : assign homework

1. 영화 속의 폭력적인 장면들은 아이들에게 부정적인 영향을 미친다.

- 부정적인 영향을 미치다 : have a negative effect on

- 제공하다 : provide SB with Sth

- 유년기 : childhood years
